Neurofeedback and Biofeedback Services

At South Florida Integrative Medicine, we offer our patients Neurofeedback and HeartMath biofeedback services as a standalone treatment plan or as a complementary layer to a patient’s therapy and/or psychiatric services at our practice. These non-invasive therapies teach our bodies how to respond to personalized feedback about the way our own systems work naturally.

  • Neurofeedback — A kind of biofeedback, which teaches self-control of  brain functions to subjects by measuring brain waves and providing a  feedback signal. Neurofeedback addresses a multitude of brain-related issues, including ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, emotional and behavioral issues, learning and developmental disabilities, addiction and substance abuse disorders, chronic pain, migraines, seizures, and sleep deprivation. During neurofeedback therapy sessions our technician retrains the brain, bringing your brainwaves into an optimal state of balance and improving its performance.
  • Brain Mapping (QEEG) — An in-depth visual map of the brain to discern patterns and irregularities in the brain’s functions. QEEGs are run at the beginning and mid-way point of a patient’s neurofeedback treatment plan.
  • HeartMath – The HeartMath EmWave Stress Relief System is a form of Biofeedback which focuses on heart wave variability and coherence. The goal of HeartMath Biofeedback is to teach you how to bring your brain, mind, body and  emotions into balanced alignment. This balanced state is called coherence.

Self-Acceptance Weekend Workshop

One of the most valuable aspects of group therapy is the ability to connect with others who are working through tough experiences similar to your own.  We are offering a 3-day weekend workshop to men between the ages of 23-30 years old in order to demonstrate social support and promote vulnerability. We are looking for gentlemen who are facing and overcoming issues related to depression, low self-esteem, and finding a sense of self-acceptance.

Led by therapist Haley Thomas, MS, LMHC, participants will process emotions and faulty belief systems that may contribute to an overall, negatively viewed narrative of themselves and their lives. Through therapeutic exercises and bonding activities, participants will increase their own understandings of the narratives that are holding them back from cultivating a life that is in accordance to their values. Alongside alike individuals, they will receive emotional support, and work to instill a sense of belonging and hope for their own lives. The intensive weekend workshop style of this group is intended to increase the sense of focus to the therapeutic experience, minimizing outside distractions and  promoting commitment to the group.

This workshop will take place for 4-5 hours on a Friday-Saturday-Sunday, and will be held in-person at our office. COVID-19 screening procedures will apply. Participation fee is $300 for this 15 hour workshop. Space is limited to 6 participants, and a commitment to attend the entire weekend is requested. To request a screening appointment to join this group, please contact our office.

Teens Support Group

The purpose of this therapy group is to find and foster hope, strength, and community within a safe space for teens ages 13-17 years old who are experiencing symptoms of depression.

Group participants will garner strategies to raise their self-esteem, coping skills to help manage low-frustration tolerance and a lack of motivation, communication and problem-solving skills, and education about depression and how symptoms of depression can influence our views of self, others, and the world around us.

Led by therapist Joshua Joseph, MS, LMHC, this group will meet for 90 minutes once a week for six meetings. There will also be an  zoom meeting scheduled with the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the group participants in order for the therapist to present a summary of group objectives and provide resources.

The meetings will be held in-person at our office with COVID-19 screening procedures in place. Participation fee is $300. Space is limited, and a commitment to attend all sessions is requested.
